Championships 2023

Hello Waves Families!

Congratulations to our athletes for their win over Oak Tree Farm on Wednesday! The athletes have been working hard all season and their hard work is paying off. The coaching staff are excited to see how they perform at Championships. Read on for important information, including entry updates to relays.

Theme: GLOW party/Neon-Kudos to Kat Whistance for designing, in my opinion, the best Championship shirt yet. All athletes will wear a Waves swim cap while competing this weekend. If your athlete has misplaced his/hers please see me for a new one. The cost for the replacement cap is $5.

Relay updates: 

Event #1 (8 and under) girls medley relay: A-1 Madelyn Spieth (back), A-2 Brooklyn Spieth (breast), A-3 Elana Grisafe (fly), A-4 Annie Grimmer (free).

Event #1 B medley relay B-1 MaKinley Oberweather (back), Theia Gannon (breast), Emma Hale (fly), Willa Cooper (free). 

Event # 61 (8 and under) girls free relay: A-1 Annie Grimmer, A-2 Madelyn Spieth, A-3 Brooklyn Spieth, A-4 Elana Grisafe

Event # 61 free relay: B-1 Theia Gannon, B-2 Wilder Severn-Harding, B-3 Willa Cooper, B-4 MaKinley Oberweather

Event # 68 13-14 boys free relay: C-1 Cash Lamb, C-2 AJ Miller, C-3 Gabe Eason, C-4 Nathan Bowman.

Warm-Up Times: Please arrive at the pool in plenty of time for your athlete(s) to be ready for warm-ups. 

10 and Under: 7:00 am to 7:15 am (Athletes will gather with the coaches no later than 6:55 am. (I hope they are all early birds)! Meet starts at 8:00 am.

11 and Older: 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm (Athletes need to gather with coaches no later than 2:40 pm). Meet starts at 3:00 pm.

Scoring:

Individual events will be scored for 16 places with the following points awarded: 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.

Relay events will be scored for 8 places with the following points awarded: 40-34-32-30-28-26-24-22.

Athletes will be cumulating individual points throughout each meet. The top 16 athletes who achieve the most points for each age group, 8 and under girls etc. will be recognized at a ceremony after each meet. Team relays are NOT included when determining High Point awards. Please stick around after each meet to celebrate!

At the conclusion of the second meet, in addition to High Point awards, each team will be recognized for placement overall. This is also a great opportunity to celebrate!

Finally, after the meet, we have a team tradition of heading to Sonic located off Langsford Rd. to celebrate. We hope you will join us!
